Medication management begins with an Initial Psychiatric Evaluation conducted by the provider, a Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). During this appointment, the provider gathers comprehensive information to establish an accurate diagnosis. Once the diagnosis is clarified, the provider will assess the patient’s need for psychotropic medications. If deemed appropriate, a prescription will be provided.
During the initiation and titration phases of the medication, patients will have more frequent appointments for medical monitoring and evaluation. These sessions focus on assessing the medication’s effectiveness and identifying any potential side effects.
To gain a complete understanding of the patient’s experience, the provider will ask detailed questions about symptoms and side effects, including their frequency, timing, duration, intensity, and impact on daily activities. Input from family members may also be requested to provide additional insights and observations.
